Every number, tied to its source.
Provenance links each figure in the model to the page of the data room it came from, and marks the ones that do not tie before a reviewer opens the file.
The page, not the folder
Click the number and the page opens beside it.
A source link points at the page, the slide or the cell, so the check takes a second. A file name is not a source.

Matched on what the number means
Metric, entity, period, unit and scale, not a lookup on the value.
Two figures that happen to share a value do not tie unless they are the same metric for the same entity and period in the same unit. The matcher makes no model calls, and a person confirms every match.

Three states
Ties to source. Source changed. No source found.
Every figure carries one of the three, so a reviewer reads the few that need judgment instead of all of them. When a synced source document changes, every confirmed link that relied on it is checked again and flagged if it no longer holds.
Private deals and public names
The data room is the only ground truth on a private company.
Private companies do not appear in a market-data terminal, so their numbers are checked against the deal’s own room. For a public company, upload the filings and they are checked the same way.
